Font - Malicious workplace Secret Santa SOC Story happened about a decade ago but randomly remembered this morning. I used to work in a grocery warehouse, doing typical grocery warehouse stuff with other grocery warehouse people - moving stock on pallets with forklifts, picking orders, tidying shelves, etc.

Font - Each year, we would do a Secret Santa/Kris Kringle amongst the staff. For those that don't know, this is where each staff member draws a name out of a hat, and spends a pre-fixed amount of money on a gift for that person. In the end the gift giver can either reveal themselves or keep it a secret - usually up to them.

Font - One particular year we had a new starter, let's call him Brian. Brian was pretty polite but also quite shy. He drew the name of, let's say, Adam. Adam was a regular worker, quite loud, not bad at his job, but also prone to errors - his signature move being piercing pallets of soft drink with his forklift tines and having to clean the mess.

Font - Anyway, Brian decided to play it safe and get Adam a gift card for an electronics store. As everyone was opening their own gifts, Adam started complaining loudly at his gift card and said to nobody in particular "the point of KK is to get a joke gift so you can have a laugh" - noting that this wasn't mentioned by anybody at the start. I happened to be sitting next to Brian and noticed he was visibly disheartened given he heard what was said.

Font - Fast forward one year, and sure enough I draw Adam in the KK. Remembering his comments I was quick to figure out what to get him - a commercial-grade mop and bucket set (for his soft drink spills of course!). Come the day of, I watched him open his gift, saw his face turn, and sat there quietly. I thought it was an okay joke gift but maybe he didn't agree.

Font - Application Mobile492 - 2 days ago Depends. There was a story some time back of a kid telling his grandma he wanted "cold hard cash" for Christmas. Grandma gave him a bucket full of frozen money layered in ice. That bucket was served ice cold. 145 Reply Share

Font - Thermitegrenade. 1 day ago I hate and avoid all secret Santa workplace exchanges..from the "joke" ones to the non- joke ones, so much drama and ill feelings all around. When forced to participate, I started buying the absolute worst present, saving the receipt, and trading for my own present back (trading was allowed). So there..I participated and happily returned my cast iron frying pan to the store with my receipt.

Font - Zoreb1 +2. 1 day ago Had a guy at work who simply put office supplies (from our office) in a shoe box and wrapped it in newspaper. Another on got some fancy potato peeler and regifted that the next year (resulting in a rule of no regifting).

Font - hagcel 1 day ago One of my buddies quit in November, but his last day was in January, so he was still in the secret santa I had a 25 bag of coal delivered to his apartment addressed to "You've been bad"

Font - quid_vincit omnia. 23 hr. ago I took part my first year at my job. I was new (2 months in) and didn't know the person I drew, but at a previous "after work pub trip", he drank Guinness. So I got a Guinness gift set, thinking that was safe. Opening day, he loudly (and kind of aggressively) says, "Who got me this?" And starts glaring round the room. The organiser just laughed and said "it's secret". He promptly stormed put, and I decided I was done with Secret Santa at work. Always be graci

Font - NandorDeLaurentis 23 hr. ago I haven't done a Secret Santa since the 90s. It was OPTIONAL, and there was a $20 limit. I spent $22 on my person, since I had a coupon. What did I get? A $10 bill inside a plain white envelope.
